New policy: criminal record clearance on visit visas

Effective immediately, the Ministry of Interior’s immigration directorate and foreign affairs has announced that all expatriates of all nationalities who applied for a No Objection Certificate visa (NOC) must have a criminal record clearance from their country of origin or the country in which they are currently reside. This applies to both work and family NOC. Before approaching the Kuwaiti embassy in their respective countries, expatriates need the clearance to be issued after the date of the NOC visa.
All expatriate university degree holders of all nationalities who are visiting Kuwait on a commercial visa with the intention of transferring to Article 18 (work visa), must have a criminal record clearance from their country of origin or the country in which they currently reside. Before approaching the Kuwaiti embassy in their respective countries, expatriates need the clearance to be issued after the date of the visit visa.
Those who are visiting Kuwait on a family-visit visa who can and wish to be transferred to a dependent residency, they need to follow the same procedure before approaching the Kuwaiti embassy in their respective countries. Note this only can be done for close family members such as spouse and children, and it only applies to certain nationalities such as American, Canadian, European, Australian etc.
