1. Aids Weight Loss :A medium sized fruit  offers just 31 grams of carbohydrates. The fruit has hardly any fat in it.
These two factors make it an ideal friend for those who wish to snack on while trying to shed those extra pounds!

2. Prevents Cancer : Prevent Cancer : Fruit is packed with antioxidants, the anti-cancer agents that can boost your body’s ability to fight free radicals, improve overall health and protect against many diseases.  Persimmons have high levels of vitamin C and A, as well as phenolic compounds like catechins and gallocatechins, which are directly connected to preventing different types of cancer.
 3. Boost Immunity  : Persimmons contain betulinic acid, which is a proven anti-tumor compound. This can reduce the chances of contracting tumors by inducing apoptosis, also known as programmed cell death, and if you already have a tumor, it can reduce the size and stop cancer from metastasizing.   Persimmons help boost immunity due to the presence of vitamin C. They have one of the highest ascorbic acid (vitamin C) content among other fruits and a single persimmon has approximately 80% of the daily requirement of this beneficial nutrient. Vitamin C stimulates the immune system and increases the production of white blood cells, which are the primary line of defense for the body against microbial, viral, and fungal infections, as well as foreign bodies or toxins.
4. Aid in Digestion :    Like most fruits, persimmons are a good source of fiber, containing almost 20% of the daily requirement in a single serving.
Fiber helps the body process food in a more efficient way by adding bulk to the stool, stimulating peristaltic motion to move the food through the digestive tract, increasing secretions of gastric and digestive juices, and relieving symptoms of constipation and diarrhea. Overall, a high-fiber fruit like persimmons can be a major boost to your gastrointestinal system and can protect you from colorectal cancer and other similar diseases. It can also help people lose weight by defending them against lipid uptake, which can cause obesity.
5.. Prevent Premature Aging :Persimmons are rich in a number of vitamins, specifically vitamin A, beta-carotene, lutein, lycopene, and cryptoxanthin. These vitamins function as antioxidants in the body to reduce oxidative stress and prevent signs of premature aging, like wrinkles, age spots, Alzheimer’s disease, fatigue, loss of vision, muscles weakness, and a number of other conditions.
6.Improve Vision .The compounds in persimmons also have a proven benefit for the health of your eyes! Zeaxanthin, a member of the B complex of vitamins, present in persimmons, is directly linked to improved eye health due to its behavior as an antioxidant substance. Studies show that this compound reduces macular degeneration, cataracts, and night blindness.
7. Control Blood Pressure :    Potassium is another mineral found in significant quantities in persimmons. Potassium can act as a vasodilator and lower blood pressure, thereby increasing blood flow to various parts of the body. Low blood pressure also reduces strain on the cardiovascular system and prevents various heart diseases from occurring. Persimmons also contain various vasodilating organic compounds that further lower blood pressure, making them a very good fruit for heart health.
8. Regulate Blood Circulation .    Along with lowering blood pressure, persimmons provide copper, an essential element in creating new red blood cells. Without copper, you cannot uptake various essential nutrients to make additional hemoglobin. Increased circulation of healthy red blood cells increases cognitive function, muscle tone, metabolism, and energy levels, as well as wound repair and cellular growth.
9. Improve Metabolic Activity :    Persimmons contain elements of the B complex of vitamins like pyridoxine, folic acid, and thiamin, which are all essential parts of various enzymatic processes and metabolic functions throughout the body. And these elements ensure that your body’s systems function efficiently and effectively, thereby increasing your overall metabolism. Further, persimmons can boost energy levels, increase muscle tone, and improve digestion.

10.  Reduces Water Retention
Being diuretic in nature, persimmon can put a stop to water retention as well as increase the amount of urine flowing through the kidneys. High in potassium, it ensures that no significant mineral is lost during urination.

Brighten Tired Eyes

Tired eye is another term for what is commonly known as eyestrain – when eyes feel achy, weak, or heavy due to intense use. It is not a disease, and does not require medical treatment – but it never hurts to know how to prevent it.
  • Tired eyes can come from any number of activities. Some of the most common include working on the computer for too long, poor lighting conditions, driving a car for prolonged periods of time, reading for long periods, or any other activity that may require the eyes to maintain intense focus for long periods of time.
  • Common signs and symptoms of eyestrain include:

  1. Soreness of the eyes
  2. Dry eyes
  3. Watery eyes
  4. Back, neck, and shoulder pain
  5. General overall fatigue
  6. Feeling of heaviness in eyes

Treatments:

Tired eyes are an annoyance more than anything. There are a few ways to prevent eye strain if they don’t work you may want to talk to your eye care professional. Sometimes, there is an underlying medical cause for eyestrain that requires additional treatment.
Some common practices that can reduce the effects of eyestrain are:
  • Check your lighting: a high amount of contrast will put more strain on your eyes, so whether you’re reading, watching TV, or working on the computer, make sure you have the room lit evenly, so your eyes don’t have to work as hard
  • Take breaks: give yourself regular short breaks from near work tasks, whether this is using a computer or doing fine embroidery
  • Ensure that your glasses or contact lens prescription is up-to-date — the prescription of the eye has natural changes over time
  • Don't smoke always apply a sunscreen around the eye area
  • Apply a moisture to the eye area every night
  • Vitamin A cream-Retinoic acid can be added to daily skin care regimen which helps to prevent wrinkles and improve existing lines
  • To calm puffy eyes , place cold spoons , slices of cucumbers, chilled tea bags, or even a package of frozen peas under eyes.

Top Five food for Slimming

Top Five foods  that shouldn't be avoided by slimmer .keep these five items always handy
1)Drink a large glass of lemon water when you wake and then continue to do so every couple of hours throughout the day.You may have to urinate frequently in the first couple of weeks of drinking more but as your body adapts this should soon settle down.
2)Food such as 'whole oats', 'wholegrain wheat or 'wholegrain bread'.  Porridge, Shredded Wheat, Bran Flakes, Weetabix and wholegrain muesli are all good options that will help to keep your energy levels high and your brain functioning well all morning long.
3)Add a little spice to your  chosen  cereal .try adding a teaspoon of ground cinnamon to it.  According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition adding just one teaspoon of ground cinnamon to a high carb meal such as breakfast cereal or rice pudding can slow the rate at which it releases its sugars into the blood stream by up to 34 per cent. This will help you to feel fully fuelled all morning long.it is also  found that adding a little cinnamon to your food can significantly improve brain function, co-ordination and memory too.
4)Avoid Tea, coffee and cola may be what you crave when you're flagging but in the long run they'll leave you feeling drained.  The caffeine they contain stimulates hormones that act in a way similar to 'over revving' an engine. You feel energised for a short while but your body pays the price afterwards when you experience a negative rebound effect.
Far better to slowly cut back on drinks that contain caffeine - no more that one or two a day - and switch to herbal hot drinks instead.  These will help to rehydrate you and balance out those stimulating hormones.
5) Good quality, protein rich foods such as nuts, seeds, beans, pulses, meat, fish and eggs all help to slow down the rate at which foods release their sugars into your blood stream, therefore helping to ensure a more constant stream of energy throughout the day.  Use this to your advantage by adding a handful of mixed seeds to your cereal, putting a dessert spoon of ground almonds in your breakfast smoothie, having a poached or boiled egg with your wholegrain toast or sprinkling a handful of nuts on your porridge.

Save a cow, eat this dress instead

Chinese movie star Gao Yuanyuan poses in a gown made of lettuce and cabbage leaves during an event organized by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia in Beijing, in this file photo taken June 8, 2011.
It was made of lettuce leaves, part of an effort by animal rights group PETA to encourage consumers to go vegetarian as meat consumption in China keeps on rising.
Draped in the dark green, form-hugging leaves, Gao also sported a necklace made of gleaming red chili peppers.
"After going vegetarian, I feel so much lighter," Gao told a media event.
"When I first started the vegetarian diet, I was not used to it and so I ate starchy foods in big amounts, and gained a little bit of weight. Still, I felt much more energetic."
Chinese, historically, had a vegetable-heavy diet, but as incomes and living standards have rising among the nation's growing middle-class, people are eating more meat.
On average, each person consumes 55 kilograms a year.
China's consumption of meat has quadrupled over the last four decades, resulting in a number of health problems.
"Per capital consumption is still lower compared to the Western world, but it's changing -- it's getting worse," he said, noting that factory farming of meat has begun in China as well.
"Consumption is going up, and related to that so are diseases related to meat consumption - cancer, heart disease."
Still, meat eaters remain skeptical.
"I think going vegetarian doesn't always equal health," said a Beijing resident who gave only her surname, Wang.
"You still need to have both meat and vegetables to have a balanced diet. If you only eat vegetables, there's bound to be some lack in your dietary requirements."
